    Background Images

    Hey All,

    I'm looking for some help here. I am trying to stop my background image from repeating at the bottom of my web site. It's not visible when I look at it but when other people do, it is.

    please help, my URL is http://www.geocities.com/sqn416/index.html

    Evan

    Hi there.

    Add this to your <head>

    Code:
    <script type="text/css">
    <!--
    body {
    background-image: url(yourpicture.jpg);
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    }
    -->
    </style>
    This will stop the image repeating.

    BTW, your images are WAY too big. I had to wait nearly two minutes to download your page

    Thanks,

    What do you mean my images are too big? The page loads for me in seconds.

    As a general guideline, a webpage should not be over 50kb in total, including all images.

    You have at least two images that are over 150 kb each so me (on my little 56k, like most of the internet) takes a while to load.

    Yeah... That info didn't really help. It made it so my main page on my web site just comes up white...

    your code looks like this:

    <HTML>
    <!--

    body {

    background-image: url(yourpicture.jpg);

    background-repeat: no-repeat;

    }

    -->
    <!--This file created 02/9/26 3:32 PM by Claris Home Page version 3.0 30 Day Trial-->
    <HEAD>
    <TITLE>416 Lynx *Virtual* T F S</TITLE>
    <META NAME=GENERATOR CONTENT="Claris Home Page 3.0 30 Day Trial">
    <X-CLARIS-WINDOW TOP=81 BOTTOM=768 LEFT=350 RIGHT=880>
    <X-CLARIS-TAGVIEW MODE=minimal>
    <style type="text/css"></style>
    </HEAD>
    and it should look like this:
    <HTML>
    <!--This file created 02/9/26 3:32 PM by Claris Home Page version 3.0 30 Day Trial-->
    <HEAD>
    <style type="text/css">
    <!--
    body {
    background-image: url(yourpicture.jpg);
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    }
    -->
    </style>
    <TITLE>416 Lynx *Virtual* T F S</TITLE>
    <META NAME=GENERATOR CONTENT="Claris Home Page 3.0 30 Day Trial">
    <X-CLARIS-WINDOW TOP=81 BOTTOM=768 LEFT=350 RIGHT=880>
    <X-CLARIS-TAGVIEW MODE=minimal>
    <style type="text/css"></style>
    </HEAD>
    and you need to change the "yourpicture.jpg" to the actual name of your picture for the picture so show up

    I think it might be a resosolution thing, the background image was quite large, length-ways.
