Going online with a new site SSL Certificate issue!!!

Hi everyone, I have plans of introducing a website so that I can start my online business. The site will be dealing in computer accessories and all the hardware stuff that is related to the computer field with an online purchase facility. But, before that I would like to know the pre-requisites that are needed to run a website of your own that has an online payment option, as I was informed about the SSL certificate issues by my developer and would like to know more on this from you people.

SSL certificate is helpful in case you want your business to be safe and sound.
Are you looking for the company to use it from?

If you are developing your website in PHP you can host your website in Linux Server, usually llinux hosting packages are more cheap then Windows hosting packages.

2nd you need to have payment gateway, if you want to received online payments. You may opt for any Web Payment gateway OR merchant account

3rd you need SSL certificate to secure your online payment transactions.

4th you need a dedicated ip to install sslcertificate for your website.

update this post if you need more help.
