    Ghost line causing a gap in display of page

    It's really a combination of php, css, and html, but the issue seems to be highlighted best in the source code of the page, so whatever is causing it, figuring out what the actual problem is would help.

    Basically there's a blank line. The source output, when viewed in firebug in firefox, looks like this:
    Code:
    <div class="block2">

        <table id="articles" border="0" width="100%"> ...
    The blank line should not be there, firebug should ignore it and display:
    Code:
    <div class="block2">
        <table ....
    That suggests to me that there is 'something' there, evidenced by the big gap it seems to produce above the table.

    I figure someone will ask what the css for "block2" is, so I'll just include it for your reference. It's just a "float: right;" and a "width: 255px;" so I can't see how that could possibly be the culprit.

    So does anyone have any ideas about what could cause a ghost line like this? I cannot find anything in my code that I think would produce it

    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hi there deliriousthunder,

    we really need a link to the site or the full page code to see the problem for ourselves.

    Re: Ghost line causing a gap in display of page

    Well, I've come up with a temporary workaround, so a link to the page won't actually display the error anymore.

    The workaround is a really "dirty" and inefficient way to do it though, would be much much better if I could fix the actual problem.

    The source code for the full page is 778 lines long, and then there is a seperate php file which is being used to generate the table, it's 240 lines long. You sure you want me to paste all that in here?

    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hi there deliriousthunder,

    post the link and let us know what your temporary workaround is.
    We may still be able to find a cure.

    I haven't actually made that module, (site made using joomla), public yet.

    I'll just get the styling tweaked first, once it's public I'll post the link and explanation.

    Thanks,
    Tom

    try removing the spaces in the HTML, most times that's the reason.

    Cheers!
