    Upgrading forums

    Hi all,

I currently have a message board that I've had for a while. It's Ikonboard Verson 3.0.1. It's a cgi one.

I was wanting to upgrade to a new php or some other form. However, I do not want to loose all the posts that have been posted thus far. What are my options here? Im just looking for something where I can import the old data. There is a new php ikonboard version out i believe. Im just looking for something newer that will allow me to incorporate a lot of the boards features into an overall website.

    Thanks!

Just create separate .htm pages with those prior posts - recreating whatever format you want for them - and link to them from the new board. (Think outside the box.)

Ok, after referring to the instal instructions for the phpbb I see several different directions for upgrading from previous version. However, I am still unclear as to what directions I need to follow for my old cgi version of ikonboard.

a reference link can be found at:
    http://phpbb.com/phpBB/docs/INSTALL.html

    Thanks for the help

Installation is one step in the process, you must also convert your ikon DB to phpbb you will find the download for that here - http://phpbb.com/downloads.php#converters

Thx for the quick reply Dave.

I see on the converter list they have one for iKonBoard 2.1.x. However, I am running version 3.0.1.

Any idea if this converter should work for my version or not? =)

Problem apparently solved, thought I would post the solution just in case anyone else was wondering.

I found a 3rd party ikonboard 3x converter, a link can be found on their forums
