    Embed Windows Media Player w/Preview

    Is there a way to embed a Windows Media Player into a web page and have a 'preview' image appear - rather than a black box.

    An example would be YouTube. Notice how you can see an image within the player before you click to play it? Can you do that with Windows Media player?

    I'm not a developer - but using the following code to show the video:

    <object type="video/x-ms-wmv"
    data="mms://etccwmsvr/1"
    width="320" height="260">
    <param name="src" value="mms://etccwmsvr/1" />
    <param name="autostart" value="false" />
    <param name="controller" value="true" />
    <param name="PreviewMode" VALUE="False" />
    <PARAM NAME="EnableFullScreenControls" VALUE="True" />

    </object>

    In youtube, they just use the video key frames to make previews that are linked by HTML to the video. I'm guessing it might be the key frame issue that's not displaying the preview image. I don't know if windows media lets you set key frames.

    You could always make a basic HTML link to the object, with a preview image that you must also upload to your site. I already set the HREF to the source value for the code you posted. That's the line you can use with any other video you want to use, as that is what the preview will targter after being clicked.

    Code:
    <a href="mms://etccwmsvr/1" /">
    <img src="Preview Image URL" title="Preview Description Here">
    </img>
    </a>
