    Question Help with CGI script

I am running an instant messageing scricpt on my site for members to talk to eachother. The script writes all submited text to a cgi message file which I then have to delete inorder to erase the chat history. I would like to add the ability for anyone to delete this file/or erase it contents to the program so that I don't have to keep worring about going in and deleting it. Any ideas would be appreciated.

How do you delete it? Via ftp? Or via a script?

I am currently doing it with ftp. I am thinking there should be a way to do it with a script.

    Okay.

Here is a list of Perl/CGI scripts for management of files, including deletion. Even if they are *too* powerful for a user then you can rip the code you need out -

Try using cron ...this allows you to perform many tasks like deleting files without having to do it manually each day.
