    Question Same length boxs

    Hi all,

    Ok... I have a site with the layout design in CSS.. there are three major elements that are layered with the z-index...

    How do I make it so that the side element maintains the same length as the main element?

    Hi reo,

    You could try placing both elements in a containing div and then setting the height: to be 100%.

    Ok...

    I tried it in a external css file as follows...

    div.contain { height: 100%; width: 100%; }

    I then put this 'around' the other two divs in my .htm file. It didn't work. Duh!

    And directly into the .htm page....

    <div height="100%"></div>

    let the 'containing' div stretch to fit, but set the smaller div to be 100%. Then it should expand into whatever the larger div expands the containing div into.

    I meant that in my earlier post, but I didn't make it clear at all, sorry.

    Sorry, been away.

    Do you have a link to a page so we can see it all?

    I see the problem.

    You have set 'div.side' to be positioned absolutely. This removes the div from the flow of html, so does not know what to compare '100%' to except itself. If you set it to 200%, it doubles.

    Instead, you may want to look into using the css properties of float and clear, find them in the references here - http://css.somepeople.net
