    now I get :

Form could not be processed due to the following errors:

Email send failed: At least one Recipient, CC or BCC must be entered.

The hosting company has been most unhelpful on this issue, but during my first conversation about asp vs. cgi/perl, someone did say something about having to have a cc with asp - since I am not a scripting person, this meant nothing to me - this error message just reminded me of that

    bah!

    bet this works -

    mailObj.AddRecipient "Website Visitor", "you@emailaddress.com"

try it, if it works we will get the rest sorted.

    back to:

Form could not be processed due to the following errors:

Email send failed: 503 No recipients specified.

Let me make sure nothing is being lost in translation here...

when you put "you@emailaddress.com" I change it to, "np@nabity-perry.com" which is where I want the email to go. Am I understanding correctly? Also, you have "Website Visitor" - I left that as is, but at the very top of formmail.asp, there is a line:

    fromAddr = "guest@nabity-perry.com"

should that be placed in place of "Website Visitor"?

    you can try it, certainly.

I have to go to bed

I would try searching around for inforamtion on SMTPsvg.Mailer , as it is this object that is returning the errors. Good luck

UK is around 5 hours ahead of US depending on time zone.

When all else fails, make sure a 'normal' email works to the address indicated before trying it within the FORM.

well, I have made some progress - in the formmail.asp file I put in the ip address instead of the smtp server name and I now get a message that says the information has been sent - however, the information may have been sent but it was never received and the receiving email address is both valid and functional.

    Any ideas

Theres only two places this could be broken.

The formmail script or the 'object' that is created when usinh ASPMail.

Try using CDONTS (needs to be installed) or the other option to see if they work.

CDONTS is turned off according to the hosting company and they will not turn it on. I'm not entirely sure what you mean when you say "the object that is created" - it sounds like you are referring to the email that should be sent with the form information in it. What to try with that I have no idea.

Yeah - I feel so vindicated but also frustrated. After pushing with the hosting company, the problem turns out to be that the server the site is on is not accepting the email - it has nothing to do with the script or anything.

Dean, if I lived in the UK, I would buy you a pint of ale or something but since I don't, I hope a thank you will suffice.

A thank you is always plenty, springo but thx for the offer.

Glad you got to the root of the problem.
