    list not functioning properly

    I'm having an issue with a list I just created.
    The list is positioned to the edge on right hand corner of the screen.
    If the user hovers with the mouse, the list will pop out to be revealed.
    The problem is; the blue DIV does not pop out along with the list when it pops out.
    I attempted to attach some screenshots to explain the issue, but I kept getting an error message regardless of the size of the image.

    Here is my code:

    HTML:

    HTML Code:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN"

    Re: list not functioning properly

    Problem solved!

    The problem was here:

    Code:
    #menu ul:hover{margin-left:-250px;}
    and I changed it to this:

    Code:
    #menu:hover{margin-left:-250px;}

    Re: list not functioning properly

    I just found a bug.
    When I re-size the browser window, the list on the right disappears completely.
    Can someone shed some light here?

    Hi there HTMLer,

    I have rearranged the CSS a little, it should now, hopefully, suit your requirements.
    Code:

    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN"
       "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
    <html lang="en">
    <head>

    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">
    <meta name="language" content="english">
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Style-Type" content="text/css">

    <title>sliding menu</title>

    <style type="text/css">
    body{
        min-width:560px;
        background-color:#000;
        font-family:verdana,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;
        font-size:16px;
     }
    #menu {
        float:right;
        width:274px;
        padding:0 6px 15px 6px;
        border:5px solid #fff;
        background-color:#00f;

    #menu h1 {

    Re: list not functioning properly

    Thanks for the reply, coothead.

    The list looks good, but I wanted the list to be off-screen to the right.
    In other words, I wanted the list to be almost hidden to the right side of the screen.
    Once the user hoverers the DIV, the list would pop out.
    I was able to accomplish this with the original code I posted (with some corrections on post #2), but when I re-size the browser window, the list disappears completely and its not accessible.

    Here is my updated CSS code:

    Code:
    /*Background */
    body{background-repeat:no-repeat;background-color:black;}

    /*right side menu*/
    #menu{padding:0px 8px 15px 5px; position:fixed; left:1250px;
    margin-top:155px; border: 5px solid white; background-color:blue;}
    #menu ul{background: white; margin-bottom:15px;
    list-style-type: none;  width:230px; text-align:left;}
    #menu a {text-decoration:none; color:black; }
    #menu a:hover{color:blue; font-weight:bold; background-color:cyan;}
    #menu li a{display:block; margin: -3px -10px 0px -10px; padding: 0px 30px 0px 0px;}
    #menu li a:active{color:orange; background-color:red;}
    #menu p{color:white; font-size:15pt; font-weight:bold;
    margin: 5px 65px 0px 20px; text-align:left;}
    #menu:hover{margin-left:-250px;}
    #menu{-moz-transition:0.4s; -webkit-transition: 0.4s;}

    Re: list not functioning properly

    Hi coothead,

    It's almost there! However, I want the blue DIV, to slide along with the list too.
    If you take a look at the original code, the list and the DIV slide together.
    The list works well on the original code, however when I re-size the browser window, it completely disappears and its not accessible.
    This is the problem, I don't want the list and the blue DIV to disappear when re-sizing the browser window. The list and the blue DIV are positioned offset by purpose (I want the list to be partially hidden).

    Thanks for your help.

    Re: list not functioning properly

    Hey coothead, thanks for your support!
    I think I just found a bug.
    The page scrolls to the right, I think that's because of overflow-x:hidden;.
    I would like the list to have the exact same functionality as now, but without the scrolling.
    How can we accomplish that?

    edit: If you press your mouse wheel button and move the mouse a bit to the right, the page scrolls.

    Can we have the same functionality as now and disable the scrolling by the "position:fixed;" property?

    Thanks again!
