Can you post the exact message, it sounds like maybe the nameserver needs to be registered still. I am moving this to the One Stop Domains forum since that is where it was bought.

Almost midnight here and I am off to bed so I'll have to get it in the morning. To help get this corrected in the shortest amount of time, please include the EXACT message you are getting, the new nameservers and their corresponding IPs.

ok you posted while I was,
If you set up the dns properly according to your earthlink email meaning the correct nameserver to the correct IP, you are done. It is just a matter of the info propagating to all the servers around the world, which should take 12-24 hours.

There is no need to have a new thread, so I moved your post here.
I am kinda lost now, I thought you had decided to go with another host and was either going to find a free DNS management service or buy one.
To help get this corrected in the shortest amount of time, please include the EXACT message you are getting, the new nameservers and their corresponding IPs.
When you set a nameserver it looks thru the world wide database of registered nameservers, if it is listed you are done. When it is not listed it must be registered, this takes 24 or so hours, after this then you can go to your account manager and update nameservers.

Ive attached my email can you please let me know how to do this..Im so naive when it comes to computer stuff...
Hello Jenna,
Thank you for contacting Homestead. I hope I can be of some assistance.
DNS information consists of two things: primary and secondary
nameservers, and primary and secondary IP addresses. Please note that Homestead
pages do not have individual IP addresses, and therefore cannot be used
with a domain name using Homestead DNS settings. Because of this, one
way to link your domain name to your Homestead site is to use CNAME
pointing OR a domain forwarding service.
(If you're interested in transferring your domain completely to
Homestead, please let us know. We will be happy to send you more
information.)
For your reference, here is information on CNAME pointing and domain
forwarding:
CNAME Pointing:
------------------------
In order for an existing domain hosted elsewhere to point to your
Homestead Web site, you will need to change the domain settings with your
current domain registrar. Further instructions follow.
To get your current registrar to point your domain to your site, please
take the following two steps:
1. Contact your current registrar and request the following changes to
the domain settings associated with your domain:
Add www.yourdomainname.com IN CNAME sites.hsprofessional.com
If have purchased a Homestead Storefront, also ask your current
registrar to make the following change:
Add stores.yourdomainname.com IN CNAME stores.hsprofessional.com.
*IMPORTANT NOTE: The '.com' extension could be '.net', '.org', or
whatever you have as an extension for your current domain.
2. Send an e-mail message to:
email removed
The e-mail subject should state 'Use of Existing Domain without
Transfer' and the body should include your Homestead login name and password
and the domain you wish to use with Homestead.
Once we receive your e-mail message, Homestead will make the necessary
changes to support the domain. Please note that this can take up to
one week.
*PLEASE NOTE: If your current registrar is Worldnic (a subsidiary of
Network Solutions), or if your domain ends with an alternative suffix
(.ca, .tv, etc.), you cannot set up domain pointing. Instead, you can
purchase a domain forwarding service from another registrar. (With domain
forwarding, the URL at the top of the browser will always show your
home page address, no matter what page in your site is being viewed.)
Domain Forwarding
-------------------------
In order to link your domain name to your Homestead site, you need to
use a domain forwarding service. While Homestead offers a domain name
registration service in partnership with Network Solutions, we do not
currently offer a 'forwarding only' service for those who have already
registered a domain name.
If you already have a registered domain name and would like to have it
forwarded to your Homestead Web site, you will need to sign up for a
domain forwarding service. Sometimes, when you register for your domain
name, forwarding is included in the package. You'll want to check with
your registrar first and see if you have such a service with your domain
name. If you don't have this service through your registrar, there are
a number of such services available on the Internet (see below).
Since Homestead pages do not have individual IP addresses, you will
need to give your forwarding service the URL (i.e.
http://mywebsitename.homestead.com/index.html) of the desired
destination page at your Homestead site. They, in turn, should be able to supply
the necessary nameservers to affect the forwarding of your domain name.

Note: Many services and products offer a free option with restrictions
or conditions (e.g. trial period, ad-supported) and premium options
with less restrictions and conditions for a subscription or flat fee.
Please be aware of restrictions and conditions regarding free and pay
options (e.g. privacy policy, terms of service).
None of the above are official partners of Homestead, nor has Homestead
done any extensive testing of what they have to offer. Use of their
tools and services must be undertaken at your own risk.

You will have to log in to your account manager and either order dns management or url forwarding.

Questions:
Is my assumption correct that the primary advantage in DNS versus stealth/frames or ordinary/redirect forwarding is that DNS avoids the unfriendly frames process to hide the true location of the web host server in favor of the domain name?
How would or would sub-domains work with DNS forwarding and is there a web site that explains this well with "easily understood" examples of the capabilities?

I think this discussion already is a great example, homestead is nothing more than subdomains.
unless I am not following you
