Why does my background music skip?

I have background music for my site. It is a .wav and skips about every three seconds, but it doesn't skip on broadband. Is it my media player? (The script is perfect)

    Website usability

You would be doing yourself a great favor by reading thru the great posts of members in the website usability discussion, after reading you will probably want to remove the music...as well as the terrible constant reloading of images.

it doesn't skip on broadband because the file takes a much shorter time to download, whereas when using dialup to surf the page, a wav takes a couple of minutes to download. what happens is that the music starts playing while the page and wav loads, thats why it skips, because it plays, and waits for the next bit to download, plays and so on.

putting a wav on a page isn't a good idea, because there are a lot more people on dialup then there are on broadband

So, would I have to change the file format?

Would I have to change the file format from a wave to something else?

if u have to have music, get a midi
its far smaller, only a few kbs usually
dialup users won't have any problems then
