activate vertical scrollbar when exiting a site withou it.
Okay, now that I've found a reason to get rid of the 'competitive' vertical browser scrollbar (see http://Homes.ShermanBlvd.com ), how does one then allow the user to continue browsing with it re-activated upon exiting the web site?
I'm using this code:
<BODY>& nobsp ;
to activate the page without the vertical scrollbar. (It has other problems, but those are moot unless I can return control of the user's browser to that which they had before entering my "controlling' site.)
[ Please note that the above referenced site still contains the vertical scrollbar. Don't want to implement this change until a solution is found. ]

Hmm. Never saw this one. (sure I have missed a few since this new template? maybe)
Let me get the process straight -
They load the page above, it contains a small section with a scrollbar.
Instead of this, you want this section to load in a popup (with less options in the browser).
this is the bit where I get confused..you mention you wish to return control of the browser to the user (fair enough) but wouldn't shutting down the popup achieve this?
I have obviously misunderstood, would you mind explaining a bit more? Thanks.If one of our members helps you, please click the icon to add to their reputation!

The process being used is now at:
While it keeps the "parental" window open so the user has something to return to "with a history of browsing" before arriving at the site in question, it does not contain the page from which the "scrollbarless" window was launched. I give the verbose instructions at that page and have the "close window" button thereat to exit that "no vertical scrollbar" window but would rather have some technique that merely reinstalls the vertical scrollbar whenever the user clicks to place 'any' other page in that window.
(I revised my error404.html file in order to eliminate the 40 second automatic meta transfer back to from whence the user came, because that was launching a new "no scrollbar" window every 40 seconds. The back -2 is obvious since the 1988no.htm launching file is -1 and must be bypassed to get back to the real web page the user will understand.)

The code that launches the scrollbarless window (in the 1988no.htm file) is:
<A HREF=../sb/1988-89.htm><IMG BORDER=0 WIDTH=600 HEIGHT=400 SRC=../i/tab.gif>
