    Question iframes backgrounds

    So I'm trying to modify my website which was designed by someone else. Allow me to say that the level of HTML here is beyond my current skill level, but I've been able to figure out that the cause of my problem is that the iframes on my page are not allowing the background image to come through, but rather are just showing up as black squares inside of which the text or images or whatever display.

    So the question I have is how do I get an iframe to display text and images over a background image, rather than just over a black square?

    The code is spread out over a couple of different files... but the basic insertion of the iframe is as follows:

    <td class="mainbody" width="215" height="269" align="left" valign="top"

    background="layout/bg2_r2c1.gif">
    <div class="lefttitle">
    WRITINGS
    </div>
    <div class="lefttop">
    <iframe name="wri_nav" src="wri_nav.htm" width="140" height="193" marginwidth="0"

    marginheight="0" hspace="0" vspace="0" frameborder="0"></iframe>
    </div>
    </td>

    I am not too familiar with iframes so maybe somebody else will chime in. Logic(?) would tell me that the image would have to be on the page called by the iframe, else the iframe lays on top of the cell with the image. The problem I see here is that the image would scroll as the iframe scrolls.

    This is where I leave it to the real pros, Dean and our other members

    Yeah, I don't want the background image to scroll as it is only part of a larger whole. It seems to me that there should be a way to make the iframe background transparent, so that you see the background image that is behind it. Hopefully someone has an answer to this...
