I don't know which file type(script) I should use Here are the file ext. I am am limited to:
.htm(whats the difference?)

I would recommend php.
The opensource community has written millions of various scripts for php, and the vast majority of them are free!If one of our members helps you, please click the icon to add to their reputation!

Before you ask, have you Searched?

html is not a scripting language it is a markup language meant strictly for laying out your content. If you want to do some sort of server-side scripting then you go with php asp or perl. Perl is very server intensive and should be used with moderation. asp does not have the open source community support like php does and from my understanding can be much more difficult to learn.
