can I do this with asp?

Could I create something with ASP that allows me to update text or post something on my site that would say something like:

    posted by: name 1:00:00pm
    and then the content here

could I do that with ASP?

    If so how?

    Thanks in Advance

Sure it could be done, you would need to search for a script to do exactly what you want, but you would also need a better host than geocities or any other freebie provider.

I doubt it but you will have to ask them.

    Brinkster support asp

make sure your page has a .asp extention (tho I am not sure if Brinkster may have gone to .net)

put this in a page -
    Code:
    <% response.write("Hello World") %>
If you see it, you have asp.

    Thanks!
Cool I saw the text! Whats the difference between file.asp and file.aspx? Some of their examples were named .asp and others with .aspx.

    Hi,

.asp files are 'classic' asp pages. asp itself is very similar to php in that its a simple scripted language.

.aspx pages are for the new .NET framework. These are a whole new kettle of fish, very powerful.
have a look at http://www.asp.net/ for some background.
