    Alright, i know what php is, but what is .phtml? is it an extension for a web page that has php code in it?

    PHP files can have any name an HTML file can have. The difference is in the file name extension, i.e., the characters in the file name that follow the last period. Most HTML files end in .html or .htm. When you see a URL ending in .asp or .cgi, you know that the HTML page your browser received was generated by an ASP or CGI script, respectively. PHP scripts may end in either .php3 or .phtml.

    there are many different extensions, here are a few which you can see...

    .phtml
    .shtml
    .ihtml
    .html
    .cgi
    .pl
    .php
    .php3

    those are just some which I can think of right now. Don't ask me to explain .ihtml.
