    Stylesheet/table problem

    I just started useing cascading stylesheets and have hit the wall on this problem.

    table#area {
    width: 550px;
    top: auto;
    }

    <table class="table" id="area">
    When I add text to the table, the table keeps getting wider (past 550px) once the text hits the right side instead of jumping down to the next row.

    How do I make the table stay 550px and force the text to make another roe?

    Hi there Bajabum,

    Welcome to these forums
    It works for me, so did you put the style sheet within the head section
    of your html file in this manner....
    Code:
    <style type="text/css">
    <!--
    table#area{width:550px;}
    //-->
    </style>
    also note that to position the element (your table)
    you have to use..

    position:absolute; (or relative)
    top:auto;

    cthead
