    automatic download pdf

    Hi,

I want to put a link on a website that automatically downloads a pdf that I provide when clicking on it. But I don't know where to start. Is this html or javascript? Where can I find coding for it? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    kind regards!

Hi there marco, welcome to the forums.

The most reliable way is to link directly (normal html link) to the pdf file. If the user has adobe reader installed, it will open automatically.

Whilst you can force headers to make it download instead, they are unreliable to say the least. My suggestion is to ask the user to right-click and choose save file as... to force a download.

Question I NEED to force headers... how do I do this?

Hi, I am in a situation where I NEED to force the download of a PDF file. How do I do this without forcing the other links on the page?

    Thanks!

Have you considered zipping the pdf?
