    Question SSI nav banners and linking

    Heya, I've just recently joined the forum and i've already gained quite a bit of knowlege from the people here, so thanks in advance for making this an excellent resource.

    Here's one question that I've been unable to find.

    I'm relatively new to using ssi for web pages, and although I can get the layout and everything fine, I don't know how to create hyperlinks from my .js nav menu that affect the page. My index is basically this:
    Code:
    <<body >

    <table >
    	<tr>
    		<td><!--#Include file="top.htm"-->
    <!--#Include file="middle.htm"-->
    <!--#Include file="bottom.htm"-->
    &nbsp;</td>
    	</tr>
    </table>

    </body>
    So how would I go about hyperlinking really anything (even a simple 'a href' tag within my top.htm file that would change the contents of the middle.htm file?

    Thanks in advance for any help or web resources you can find.

    Hi there, welcome to the forums.

    You can't change the middle section dynamically with SSI, as the parsing is done on the server before its transmitted to the server.

    The problem with SSI is that the parsing is very limited. You may be better off working with a full-blown server-side language like PHP or ASP to achieve what you want.

    That brings up another question, but i'll start that on another thread.
