    Angry aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaghhhhh

    check this out:
    http://66.33.83.213/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12372

Are there no straight players left on the net?

I started using email in 1985, found the gopher system to dig around in about 1990 or 91. Fell in love with finding information, email lists, usenet lists...an information addict. Only a year and a half ago did I leave a dead end job to try to make my way on the net for a living. I'm getting pretty discouraged. Not just the lack of bucks coming in (I don't have a head for marketing), but this lack of ethics is killer. Who is the internet John Galt, anyway?

hmmm, this could be interesting. If Kanoodle was talked into bowing out that could have put a hurt on them. I wonder how long this will last?

mmm...yes well at least we have a taste of what success will be like!

One thing though, they have cut down on the number of links, yahoo only showing one (webhosting) as opposed to the good handful yesterday.

Oh well, put the champers away...maybe I should just drink it

Dave you wouldn't happen to know a shortcut to close about a hundred windows at once do you?

Surf goes nuts on me once in a while and throws a 100 plus pages up ...

    Talking Yes!yes!yes!

This in from Findwhat after I asked about their connection with surf+:

    Thanks for your inquiry.

First let me state that our policy at FindWhat.com is to work only with
distribution partners which comply fully with the law and which provide
qualified traffic for the advertisers which bid for position among our
search results. While we typically do not comment on specific
contractual relationships that we have not disclosed publicly, we
realize that there has been a lot of discussion recently regarding the
    Surf+ application.

We currently do have a contract with Surf+ to link to our search
results. While many of the allegations regarding Surf+ are false, out of
respect for the feedback we have received from advertisers such as
yourself, we have put our relationship with Surf+ on hold. As of August
24th, Surf+ no longer links to FindWhat.com search results or
advertisers in any way, and our contract with Surf+ is under review.

We continue to believe that Surf+ is in compliance with all laws. Surf+
is an application which Internet users agree to download, and one which
they can choose to use or not use, and which they can remove at any
time. In order to correct incorrect information posted on the Internet,
we also want to reiterate that the Surf+ application never highlighted
words which linked directly to our advertisers' sites, especially
adult-oriented sites. That would be against our policies.

Please rest assured that we always try hard at FindWhat.com to ensure
that our advertisers receive the quality traffic and service that they
have come to expect, while allowing Internet users to find the products
and services that is of interest to them among our search results.

Thanks again for your feedback, and please do not hesitate to contact us
in the future regarding any aspect of our service.

    Kindest regards,

    Luis Barcenas

    Two things please,
    1) Please send me the text version.
    2) Please inform me what your policy is on Surf+ and Kazaa using
    FindWhat
    listings.

How should somebody take this? On one hand they have atleast temporarily pulled thier listings with surf+...at least temporarily. On the other hand, the blatent lies really make me doubt the sincerity

While many of the allegations regarding Surf+ are false
what exactly is false, what is accurate? It would be interesting to know what they view as false, it could give some insight on how they are able to justify thier actions.

    Surf+
is an application which Internet users agree to download, and one which
they can choose to use or not use,
Judging from my logs, I would say that thier are thousands of people that did not want this on thier system, and it would be a fair assumtion that they did not know what they were getting when they installed this.

and which they can remove at any
!LIE!, they conveniently forgot to mention that files stay behind on your system, and the only way to get your system bugs out is a fresh reformat.

we also want to reiterate that the Surf+ application never highlighted words which linked directly to our advertisers' sites, especially
    adult-oriented sites.
Another outright lie, where have these people been, have they not seen that we have 1000% proof on this!

a small victory...they will be back.
