    How to Enlarge Pictures

    Is there a way to enlarge pictures? I kno there is, but just simply enlarging it on photoshop makes the whole picture go blurry. I've always seen it on newspaper etc etc. But how ?

    Thx very much.

    The only way to enlarge images is to use image software like Photoshop.

    It might be simpler to create the images larger in the first place.

    Yes, I have photoshop. Is there some special settings that I should use? LIke bicubic/bilinear or something? Cuz I'm trying to make something like a wallpaper, which requires large images.
    Thx

    Size vs. Resolution

    The problem with enlarging images found on the Web is that in order to save file size, images are set to 72 dots per inch. So when you increase a file from say, 2 inches wide to 4 inches wide, you have those same 144 dots, just twice as far apart, hence the blur.

    Try printing the image at it's orginal size, then scanning it at a higher resolution. You may get better results this way.

    It's always important to have the resolution of oringinal source as high as possible since you can't create things that's not there in the beginning.

    Re: How to Enlarge Pictures

    mcortina - not too sure what you were saying there... do you mean "how do I have a thumbnail image that gets bigger when someone clicks on it?"

    If so, I recomend using this little piece of code in dreamweaver:

    Code:
    <table align="center" border="2">
    <tbody><tr>
    <td><a href="../images/YOUR_PIC.jpg" target="_source"><img src="../images/YOUR_PIC.jpg" height="175" width="175"></a></td>
    </tr></tbody></table>
    adjust accordingly (ie root folder /'centered' / width & height) but it's a pretty solid format.

    Hope that helps!

    or you could use some php or perl or something to resize the image on the server then send it, so it doesnt take as much time to load!

    Re: How to Enlarge Pictures

    I think what he wants to do is take a small picture and make it big.

    Unfortunately there is no way to do this without getting fuzzy blurry pictures with raster images.

    So your options are a) use vector images or b) make your original images very very large and then resize them down to the size you need.

    Re: How to Enlarge Pictures

    you can also enlarge pics with regular html

    <img src=url of image here" height="150" width="150">

    change height and width to whatever size you want the image.... if it is a rather small or thumbnail size phot when you enarge it it will look blurred .... but it's an option that is simple and easy to use... and its a greta way to have all your pics the same size
