Welcome to the forums Iceman, from about 1 mile away from the original iceman George Gervin.

...and of course welcome to the fight

    Angry reply from CNet

Recieved the 1st reply to my email to CNet, here it is

Thank you for your letter of concern regarding the distribution of KaZaa
Media Desktop on CNET Download.com. We are aware that KaZaa's installer
file currently bundles EZula's Top Text browser plug-in and that the
TopText software has raised concerns by some web site publishers.

One of the more recent trends surfacing among downloadable software is
the notion of "bundling," where developers include third-party software
within their installers that piggyback on top of the initial download.
These components are usually included as a way to generate revenue for
the parent sofware developer, and they often serve ads, track Web
surfing habits, or (in Top Text's case) add or modify links within a
    user's Web browser.

We attempt to inform users of the presence of these components when we
become aware of them; for KaZaa, we have included a note in the
product's description explaining the implications of these bundled
    software packages.

In the best of circumstances, downloaders will take the time to
thoroughly review the entire software installation process for any piece
of software. However, since Top Text is presently an add-on component
within KaZaa (not a default component), we can only assume that users
will make the right decision and selectively install the software they
    explicitly want.

As for the potential copyright issues surrounding Top Text and other
bundled software packages, we plan to monitor the legality of these
downloads and, if necessary, adjust our coverage accordingly. In the
meantime, we will continue to cover the complete software downloads
industry to the best of our ability and to attempt to inform downloaders
of any conspicuous software bundles or ad-related components found
within our library of which we become aware.
