    Question How to add URL to favourites/bookmark

    hello,
    total newbie here.
    I have been messing around with Frontpage 2000 and yahoo sitebuilder 2.0 and the geocities html editor.
    I have no experience of html, but i intend to learn,so what i am trying to do is add a button (just like the e-mail click here)so that ppl who visit my site can just click and it will add the URL to their bookmarks/favourites.
    The site is extremely basic(please dont laugh) as i have only just started working on it. I live in a village of around 3000 ppl so this is a new venture for me and them
    The ppl visiting will have limited knowledge of PC's, so i want to make it as easy as possible.

    Hi lostplanet and welcome to the forums,

    i don't know how to use an image/button as a link to bookmark a page but this piece of JavaScript will give you a text link that does the job. Place the code where you want the text 'Bookmark this site' to appear on your page.

    <script type="text/javascript" language="JavaScript">

    <!-- Begin
    if ((navigator.appName == "Microsoft Internet Explorer") && (parseInt(navigator.appVersion) >= 4)) {

    var url="http://www.buildinghealthandsafety.co.uk";
    var title="Building Health + Safety - Homepage";

    document.write('<A HREF="javascript:window.ext');
    document.write('ernal.AddFavorite(url,title);" ');
    document.write('onMouseOver=" window.status=');
    document.write("'Bookmark this site!'; return true ");
    document.write('"onMouseOut=" window.status=');
    document.write("' '; return true ");
    document.write('"><b>Bookmark this site!<\/b><\/a>');
    }
    else {
    var msg = "Don't forget to bookmark us!";
    if(navigator.appName == "Netscape") msg += " (CTRL-D)";
    document.write(msg);
    }

    // End -->
    </script>
    Hope this helps.

    .....or you could just pop this one liner into your page...

    <button onclick="window.external.AddFavorite('http://uk.geocities.com/personalcomputerhunter/','personal computer hunter')">Bookmark this site</button>
