    Spacing?

    http://dmcdeadfingers.0catch.com/test.html ok ive uploaded the very little i have up so far, but see that big gap between the peeling page and the ripple umm table? how do u get rid of that? ive put just about everything from cellspacing and padding to 0 from "forcing it" and putting the table to show up on top and squeeze in. How do u get rid of this? im on a comp rght now that has a pretty big screen and at home i have a laptop and its screen is about half the size of the one that i used to make this "template" so could that be it? ive had probs wit spacing stuff out in different screens, is there a way that it will space out the same way on all screens? thanx for all your help! hmm also i added a new background just to try out, why does it have those lines? like they are spaced out a lil? i know it tiles but can i change that also? kew thanx

    Hi deadfinger04,

    to be honest i can't really make head nor tail of your code! I suspect you are using a WYSIWYG type of thing?!?

    I would start by running your code through a validator and correcting any errors you find.

    One thing that did stand out immediately was the huge horizontal scrollbar on your page, caused i suspect by your table being set to a width of:
    HTML Code:
    <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" align="left" bgcolor="#61F988" width="1000" height="300"><tr><td></td></tr></table>
    I suspect this was meant to be width="100%" ?

    Also, some of your image filepaths seem to be referencing files on your local machine! eg. /MyPictures/rips.jpg

    Hope any of this helps!

    If there was nothing wrong with your code, you wouldn't be posting here, right?

    http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fdmcdeadfingers.0catch.com%2Ftest.html <-- good advice from krak_d, you should clean up your code.

    Personally, I would put all your images into one table rather than three. That should sort your problem.

    ok seriously whats wrong wit my code? i dont see anything wrong wit it, im not having probs wit it i just want to know how to get rid of that gap. and three pics? all on one table? what u mean like tables in tables? http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fdmcdeadfingers.0catch.com%2Ftest.html
    ok so i dont get most of this stuff, most of the probs i guess are wit the host's banner. some are mine but it says like "valign" is not an attribute what the heck? and it says "this page os not HTML 4.0 transitional" so what the heck? i dont really see how my code is bad or wrong, i mean it shows and everything and i have done all my sites like that so and they are going still. can someone explain please? thanx

    There is a lot of funny stuff in there, and your right it could be from your host. Some hosts do that.

    At the moment, you seem to have three separate tables for your layout, including one table that doesn't seem to do anything. I was thinking if the whole lot was in one table, using separate cells instead of separate tables it might hang together better.

    hmm yeah i see, but i still dont see whats wrong, all the code is intact and shows so it does work. ill try the tables in tables deal but i would like to have them separately.

    hmm i seem to having spacing probs wit a site im making www.dmcdeadfingers.0catch.com see the marquee on the side wit the scrolling pics? can u see the how the pics are overlapping onto the body? how do i change this so that every screen sees it the same way? on my dads comp its just perfect but he has like a screen thats twice as big so everything is spaced out the way i wanted it too. is there anyway to change the scrren size on my laptopn top something bigger? not like hardware but like settings. thanx

    Yeah the code is really funky.There is really no structure to your code and I don't think you really need to make so many tables. You can probably do this with one table. Try to use this:

    Code:
    <html>

    <head>
    <title>test</title>
    </head>

    <body>

    <table border="1" width="100%">
    	<tr>
    		<td width="291"><img src="/MyPictures/peel.jpg"></td>
    		<td cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" align="left" bgcolor="#61F988" width="1000" height="300">&nbsp;</td>
    	</tr>
    	<tr>
    		<td width="296" height="533" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" valign="top"><img src="/MyPictures/rips.jpg"></td>
    		<td>&nbsp;</td>
    	</tr>
    </table>

    </body>

    </html>
