    Smile table cell background

    i know i shouldnt be using tables, but hey...i'm trying...

    Question:

    can CSS be used to stop the background image of a table cell from tiling?

    if so, are there any other controls available such as centering etc

    am i right in thinking Netscape browser wont render background images in cells?

    Cheers!

    Hi escocia1, welcome to the forums.

    To apply an image to a table cell first give the table cell an id.

    eg. <td id="td1one">

    then use your Stylesheet to set the rules for it.

    eg. #tdone
    {
    background-image: url(image.jpeg);
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    background-position: center;
    }

    I don't use NN so i couldnt comment on whether it renders correctly if at all, sorry.

    Hi there escocia1,
    ' am I right in thinking the Netscape browser won't render background images in cells? '
    No, that is incorrect

    Hi there krak_d,

    you should get a selection of browsers, indispensable for
    checking code for cross browser compatibility. Have you not tried firefox yet ?

    coothead
    p.s. just noticed that the ids don't match....

    td
    id="td1one"

    style
    #tdone
