What is best route to follow for finding a web host for a third party?
I do very lightweight web design. Several times people have come to me for help with creating a website. I'm very willing to help (for pay or for free, depending on my relationship with the person and their reasons for needing a website).
The trouble is that negotiations always break down after I explain I can "build" the site but they'll have to find their own host. They don't want to be bothered.
So that's why I'm checking out these forums. I want to learn how to "provide" a site for someone from start to finish.
Where is the best place to start? Is there a recommended site that offers reliable ratings for web hosting services, with price comparisons, etc.?

Hi, and welcome.
Well, if you click at the top of this page you have lots of web host reviews. I would look into 'reseller' accounts. You basically take over the support, but get the accounts cheap. You can, of course, charge the customer whatever you likeIf one of our members helps you, please click the icon to add to their reputation!
No support via email or private message - use the forums!
Before you ask, have you Searched?

And if you choose somebody not listed in our directory be sure to ask here for opinions first. It is sad but the facts are that there are many, many more bad hosts than good ones.
