For this I would contact your server host. If you have done everything according to the instructions then it might be a config problem.

the next question is i am trying to use two cgi scripts one for user logon and the other for user tracking how easy is it to take the username vairable from the password cgi and pass it to the tracking veriable
That depends very much on the in-depth coding of the two scripts. I couldn't even say if it was esy or hard without knowing more about the scripts. Possibly the script authors are the best people to ask about that.

    config my script

this might sound thick but need help

The configs.cf asks you for the following (in this order)

    1) What is the virtual CGI path of the CheckMe folder ?
    2) What is the virtual HTML path of the CheckMe folder ?
    3) What is the URL to the CheckMe CGI folder ?
    4) What is the virtual path to the secure folder ?
    5) What is the URL to the CheckMe HTML folder ?

Number 4, is the path of the root folder that will have
all the pages that you wish to protect with CheckMe.

    An example configuration:

    /home/userid/cgi-bin/checkme
    /home/userid/html/checkme
    http://www.mydomain.com/cgi-bin/checkme
    /home/userid/html/secure
    http://www.mydomain.com/checkme

i know mydomain so thats ok just the rest is a problem if you can help pls pls
have run a path test and received the following

    hiya,

this bit is your 'virtual cgi path' at a guess:

    /var/www/domains/m/o/n/www.money-for-life.co.uk//./cgi-bin/pathtest.cgi

so take out the pathtest.cgi, replace with your secure folder name and you should be on track.

What is it about ok.htm that makes it secure? I presume you added some code to it?

Can you add the same code to main.htm ?

If the refer script is checking the server header, HTTP_REFERER, then you need to put in the web-address of the page, not the actual path. Have you tried that?
