Why doesn't my anchor work with PDF files.

Hello, I'm trying to get a link on my page to open up a PDF file which is in the same file directory as the html page.

    My code is

    <a href="test.pdf">test</A>
when I open up the HTML page the link is shown correctly and when I place the cursor over it the correct file location is shown. However when I click the mouse nothing happens. If I type in the actual address in the browser space bar then the file opens up ok

    Confused please help

    Thanks in advance

    Clive

    Hi,

I always notice a large delay when opening PDFs from a link, especially if its large. Have you tried just waiting a minute or so?

Yeah, online works for me too. How strange. Might be a security setting in your browser.

Greets; this is my first time here.

    cliveg,

Have you tried minimizing your browser window to see if there's an Adobe Reader pop-up behind it asking if you want to update your version?

Re: Why doesn't my anchor work with PDF files.

It is a limitation of acrobat, you can only link into a pdf file on a server. It will not work locally, I've tried.

So what if it an old question?? I have the same question and can't find the answer in any of the books I have. These "old questions" are helpful.
