background color in classes not appearing

I'm trying to get this left navbar to have the look like this.

    http://www.coolpillows.com/leftnavtest.htm

But when I put that same code nested in a different page, the browser won't display the colors as set by the CSS file.

    http://www.coolpillows.com/new_design1.htm

Of course, everything around this is placeholder & not fully designed. And the CSS files & JS files are in the paths in the source code.

    Thanks in advance to all!

Your gonna kick yourself, but two of the background-color: properties don't have the '#' symbol before the color codes. Thats your problem.

thanks QD. i'm not going to shoot myself...or even kick myself. i'll give you a pat on the back though. and then i'll go screw up some other code.

like the pic of portland...i spent some time there a million years ago....well, not exactly. but a nice city overall, despite the grey skies.

Yeah, its a lovely place. Dorset in general is one of the nicest english counties. Doesn't compare to Wales though, where I come from originally.
