    Make JS behave like a link

    I have an onclick event that is called from an image map.

    The other parts of the image map are links to various destinations on the site.

    The onclick event sends you to a destination also but because of the JS the "hand" is not displayed above the image.

    I've tried using "style="cursor:hand"" in several different variations.

    I've tried putting the JS in the href and that didn't work either.

    Here is the snippet of code that is involved.

    <div id="Layer5" style="position:absolute; left:121px; top:270px; width:589px; height:77px; z-index:0"><img src="../assets/headers/WhslBtnBar.gif" width="576" height="62" border="0" usemap="#WhlSaleBar" />
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    function confirm_ex(){
    if (confirm("You will need a username and password to access the FTP site. \n\nClick on the \"Image Usage Form\" link. \n\nHold down Ctrl key or disable Pop-Up blocker before clicking OK. \n\nOK=Yes I have a Username and Password - Cancel=No I don't.")){

    // -->
    <map name="WhlSaleBar" id="WhlSaleBar">
    <area shape="rect" coords="6,21,92,55" href="monthlyspec.htm" target="_blank" />
    <area shape="rect" coords="99,18,190,56" href="OnlineOrderStart.htm" target="_blank" />
    <area shape="rect" coords="194,19,286,59" href="../PDF%20Files/0-2005WholesaleOrderSheetForPDF.pdf" target="_blank" />
    <area shape="rect" coords="290,18,381,58" href="UnderConst.htm" target="_blank" />
    <area shape="rect" coords="384,17,477,56" href="topsellers.htm" target="_blank" />
    <area shape="rect" coords="484,19,572,55" onclick="confirm_ex()" />

    I would like the hand cursor to appear when the user hovers above the image map area. As my boss pointed out there should be some consistency when the user hovers over the different areas.

    Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

    Try adding

    To the area or href tag.

    Make JS behave like a link- Found Solution

    Thanks QuietDean,

    I tried that, but it didn't work. A prof. in one of my classes sugested putting an herf="#" in front of the ocClick. It worked great.

    Code Snippet:

    <area shape="rect" coords="484,19,572,55" href="#" onclick="confirm_ex()" />

    Once again thanks for the input
