Re: bought a domain name, now what?

yes I do have the public_html for oldfadedmemories.
I created a folder for for the other domains I bought, and created a public_html for them also..

Re: bought a domain name, now what?

my appologies, here I am asking questions and during all this I was unaware of my host having a few issues of their own!
If anyone has tried to to go oldfadedmemories and experienced issues that was the fault of my hosting company.
I hope this problem didnt make things more confusing than I already have....

Creating a public_html folder for those other two domains doesn't work for making those domains show up on a single hosting account. Your web host would need to support add-on domains as a feature for you to be able to do that. If you want them to appear as separate domains, either switch to a host who offers add-on domains or else buy two additional hosting packages for those two domains. Check with your host and see if they offer any kind of a price break for hosting multiple domains. Maybe not, but it never hurts to ask.

Thumbs up Re: bought a domain name, now what?

I was afraid of that. I was hoping on some magic here!...
    How 'bout this:
add kateart-cards.com and point it to oldfadedmemories.com/kateart-cards/. that way when someone types in kateart-cards.com it will go to that folder which has the kateart-cards website. So I still can have kateart-cards.com as a separate site, but it will be in a directory inside ofm.
    Would that work?

I know that you can redirect one domain to another domain via .htaccess, but I don't know if you can redirect one domain to the sub-directory of another domain.

Here is some code that you might try:

    Code:
    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} (www\.)?kateart-cards\.com$ [NC]
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://oldfadedmemories.com/kateart-cards/$1 [R=301,L]

That is code you put in a file called .htaccess (assuming that you're on an Apache server). You put that file in your root directory. Here is a place that tells you all about .htaccess and its capabilities. After reading that, if you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

Im wondering if I use this code that it may take over oldfadedmemories.com.
Im not sure if I could access both via domain addresses...
for instance if I typed in OFM then kateart would come up in its place? or am I confused yet again!...

    What the code does:
    Code:
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} (www\.)?kateart-cards\.com$ [NC]
If the user is requesting kateart-cards.com or www.kateart-cards.com

    Code:
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://oldfadedmemories.com/kateart-cards/$1 [R=301,L]
    direct them to http://oldfadedmemories.com/kateart-cards

So your kateart-cards files would be located in your (original) public_html/kateart-cards folder.
