Help needed with DBD and DBI

Hi, I have a problem installing DBD and DBI on my windows. I keep getting the error:

    Cant locate DBI/DBD.pm in @INC9(@INC contains: C:\Perl\bin C:\Perl\site\lib .) at Makefile.PL line 24.

My command is from cpan> install DBD::mysql.

    Could some one please help?

Gogelpot, could you post here a step-by-step procedure of what commands you are doing, every single one, with the errors in context. Then we can try and help more.

    These are the steps:
    1. Open Dos command.
    2. Go to my perl dir. D:\perl\bin\
    3.Type ppm
    4. Ppm opens with Ppm>
    5. Type install DBI
    6. Reply: Install package 'DBI?' (y/N):
    7. Type Y
    8. Reply: Retrieving package 'DBI'...

HTTP POST failed: 500 (Script Error), in SOAP method call. Content of response:
Script failed to send data. at D:/Perl/site/lib/PPM/SOAPClient.pm line 222

Re: Help needed with DBD and DBI

Ah, I see. Its not a problem with DBI as such, just ppm stuffed.

If PPM is not even forming its soap requests properly, it sounds like the program itself is awry. However, as you also get a similar error with cpan, it sounds more likely that either your Perl setup is misconfigured, or less likely there is a problem with the cpan depository. I imagine a DBI problem in cpan would be noticed and fixed quite quickly. so lets rule that out.

Personally, I would download the module manually and install it using ppm locally. See the ppm docs for how to do this, but it avoids the whole network/soap/xml jobbies.
