    Hi, does anyone know the HTML to make a different picture appear everytime the page is loaded? If you could help, that would be great!

    Re: Random pictures HTML

    there are two ways of doing this, the eassiest is to use a scripting language like php, perl, or asp.

    you could also do it in javascript, but doing it that way, you have to add each picture in the file.

    i can help on either one, just tell me which one you want to use, if you server supports it, i would use php.

    Re: Random pictures HTML

    i need 1 of 2 things from you...

    first, you could rename all the files that you want to be random to pic01 pic02 pic03 exc... and give me the range of how many there are (ie: starts at pic00 and goes to pic15)

    or

    give me a list of the file names, and location.

    (i prefer the first one because it would be a little eassier to code, but not too much harder than the second one!)

    Re: Random pictures HTML

    hi - thanks a lot
    here are the paths and files. (they are already on the website in various locations..which would make it hard to rename all of them and update the html for those ...) sorry that its this way and not the other!
    also, for the future, is it easy to add more pictures in once this is complete?

    Re: Random pictures HTML

    here you go...
    HTML Code:
    <html>
    <body>
    <img name="someimage" src="">
    </body>
    <script>
    var aryimages = new Array('pictures/milkshake05/68c3.jpg', 'pictures/milkshake05/18e6.jpeg', 'pictures/sexapalooza05/sexapalooza001.jpg', 'pictures/sibling03/sibling03_1.jpg', 'pictures/sibling03/sibling03_2.jpg', 'pictures/sibling03/sibling03_3.jpg', 'pictures/sibling03/sibling03_4.jpg', 'pictures/sibling03/sibling03_5.jpg', 'pictures/sibling03/sibling03_6.jpg', 'pictures/lionsfest03/lionsfest03_1.jpg', 'pictures/lionsfest03/lionsfest03_2.jpg', 'pictures/nobooza03/nobooza03_5.jpg', 'pictures/nacurh03/nacurh03_1.jpg', 'pictures/nacurh03/nacurh03_2.jpg', 'pictures/nacurh03/nacurh03_3.jpg', 'pictures/nacurh03/nacurh03_4.jpg', 'pictures/nacurh03/nacurh03_7.jpg', 'pictures/nacurh03/nacurh03_8.jpg', 'pictures/nacurh03/nacurh03_9.jpg');
    someimage.src = aryimages[Math.floor(Math.random() * aryimages.length)];
    </script>
    </html>
    please not... either you need to put this script after the body, or make it into a function, and call it in "onLoad" in <body>

    to add images, just put it in quotes and after a comma where the rest of them are!

    To be valid I think you need to change <script> to <script type="text/javascript">. I do not know very much about JS so I could be wrong.

    well, dave you are correct, but i was on the fly and i just had to test it an submit it. but most browsers have javascript set to their default script, but you should do it anyway!

    thanks for the correction, Dave;

    Re: Random pictures HTML

    that is because you have 2 problems going on...

    first, you are makeing an array of images, but you are not telling it what to do.

    second, you are not closing your javascript correctly.

    replace the html of your page with this:
    HTML Code:

    also, as a seggestion, you might want to consider doing a W3 verification, here:

    Re: Random pictures HTML

    Thanks!!! I really appreciate it. I thought I was doing pretty good for learning everything else I know from looking @ the source on pages that interest me.
    One question - How can I get the random image to be centered?
    What is a W3 verification?

    Re: Random pictures HTML

    Hello!
    I saw this topic.
    here you go...
    HTML Code:
    <html>
    <body>
    <img name="someimage" src="">
    </body>
    <script>
    var aryimages = new Array('pictures/milkshake05/68c3.jpg', 'pictures/milkshake05/18e6.jpeg', 'pictures/sexapalooza05/sexapalooza001.jpg', 'pictures/sibling03/sibling03_1.jpg', 'pictures/sibling03/sibling03_2.jpg', 'pictures/sibling03/sibling03_3.jpg', 'pictures/sibling03/sibling03_4.jpg', 'pictures/sibling03/sibling03_5.jpg', 'pictures/sibling03/sibling03_6.jpg', 'pictures/lionsfest03/lionsfest03_1.jpg', 'pictures/lionsfest03/lionsfest03_2.jpg', 'pictures/nobooza03/nobooza03_5.jpg', 'pictures/nacurh03/nacurh03_1.jpg', 'pictures/nacurh03/nacurh03_2.jpg', 'pictures/nacurh03/nacurh03_3.jpg', 'pictures/nacurh03/nacurh03_4.jpg', 'pictures/nacurh03/nacurh03_7.jpg', 'pictures/nacurh03/nacurh03_8.jpg', 'pictures/nacurh03/nacurh03_9.jpg');
    someimage.src = aryimages[Math.floor(Math.random() * aryimages.length)];
    </script>
    </html>

    I followed Your Guidelines and works perfectly.
    What about if I want to display 3 different random images in my html page?
    is there any way to success this?

    Thanks in advance and congratulations for the good work
