    need to SEO my website

    i am not much into SEO'ing, so i need somone's help with getting some good meta keywords and discriptions going!

    the current ones i am using just arn't brining enough visitors, and i know that when people see my site, they will stay at it insted of finding a new one. i specifically made my site EASSY to use... no ads (i will never have ads as long as i own it!) and when enough people are active i will start making some contest's and stuff.

    there is a link (tkforums link) to my site in my signature, if you are interested, in exchange i can provide some scripting (just about any language) assistance (if needed).

    i now have a pr3 (which isnt much, but will improve when i get my online more often).

    really appreciate any help,
    -ALL

    ps: i would do it my self, but this just isnt my area of expertece!

    Here are a few pointers

    I notice your title is the same on all pages, with the exception of the added blurb of the actual page title. I also notice all metas are the same. One of the most important things is to make each page have unique metas and title.
    Lets look at the metas and title of the front page and a thread page

    front page
    <title>TKForums.com - Pyrokinesis - Telekinesis, TK, PSI, and all the other Kinetics</title>
    <meta name="keywords" content="telekinesis,psi,obe,telekinetics" />
    <meta name="description" content="Telekinesis Discussions plus, ESP, TK, OBE, Telepathy, PSI and all the other Telekinesis" />

    thread page
    <title>TKForums.com - I'll be doing some pyro today... - Telekinesis, TK, PSI, and all the other Kinetics</title>
    <meta name="keywords" content="telekinesis,psi,obe,telekinetics" />
    <meta name="description" content="Telekinesis Discussions plus, ESP, TK, OBE, Telepathy, PSI and all the other Telekinesis" />

    First off I would remove the tkforums.com(for now) Though it is important for branding, all the extra wording is bringing you down. I would hold off on the branding until other factors are in place to make up for the extra keywording.

    For the front page you should pick a short and to the point title, pick a 2 word key phrase that descibes the general content and use that only.The metas for the front page are fine, though you may want to check out wordtracker and adjust your target keywords and phrases.

    On the sub pages(forum list and threads)I would remove all the current text in both metas and titles and only have the forum category name or the user submitted thread title. I am not familiar with the Yabb backend but if you can use the Yabb tag that designates the title for your metas that is perfect. Of course also use it in a CSS styled h1 tag above the actual thread.

    Hope this helps a little.

    ok, thanks Dave... to do some of this stuff will require some script editing.
    what i will probably end up doing in the end is buying vBulliten. which i don't really want to spend the money to do, but i think it will help boost signups, and more 'cool' features.
    i'll also endup making a "YaBB2 to vBulletin converter" while i am converting... which sounds fun

    Looks like they are working on it now. You may want to register and offer up a test DB if nobody has yet.

    I feel your pain ALL. I wish I had more targeted members on my forum too.

    I threw your link up on my Links page. Not sure how much that will help but it's the least I could do for all your help.

    sure... i sent the person it was assigned to a pm containing a backup of my site, telling him that if he needs help i will help him.

    but YaBB2 does not use a DB it uses text files to store everything!

    anyway... as soon as i can scavage some of my from my parents i will get it

    btw... i'll link exchange C.Whyte!

    Well, it depends on you, if you will hire an SEO specialist to work for you. If you have enough to spend for this, then you can hire them. However, you can work SEO by your own. Just read some SEO tutorials for you to know what SEO all about.
