    HTML background help

Hey everybody well i'm new on the board, and i'm new with HTML. I'm 17 years old, and i'm trying to make my first website...but I need some help. I don't know ANYTHING about HTML, so could ya'll help me out? First of all i'm trying to make my own background, and I already got that done, but in my navigation menu I don't know how to make the words into links...or am I doing it completely wrong? What programs do I need to make the links for my site, and how big does my background have to be? I'm making my background in Photoshop, so any advice that ya'll have is appreciated...Thanks. Oh and i'm using Namo Webeditor, is that a program that I should use to make a website? Thanks again ya'll

Welcome to the forum, playa kb!

For your navigation menu, I'd just use plain old links like this:

    Code:
    <a href="mylink.php" alt="This is my link">Menu Item</a>
As for your pictures, that all depends on what sort of design you're using, but as a general rule, your maximum size should be no larger than 780 x 580 pixels.

That would take up the whole screen for smaller resolution browsers.

As for the technical skills, you might want to read everything you can from the w3schools website.

I'm not familiar with Namo, so I can't help you with that.

Anyway, glad you could join us. Enjoy your stay here.

Also keep in mind blinking lites and other moving gifs on website are a big turn off.

One of the best way to learn html is to take time viewing a site you like then right click and view soruce. You get a good idea of how the designer layed it out and cool little tricks he usedto get a simple effect...

No that is not his site, just a great bit of research that he uses to help view trends.
