    prompt a download.

for those of you who don't know, i webmaster for several different record labels. i'm wanting to make it simpler for people to download MP3 files. right now you have to 'right click' and 'save target as' to download. i've seen sites were you just have to click it and it gives you the "save file to compter or open from current location.' how do they do this? right now if you left click it plays in quick time right off the webpage. and if you're using netscape 4.7 or older it get all messed up. any ideas?

mp3 files are already compressed, so if you zip them, they get bigger ( the zipfile header, added to the file as is, makes it bigger )

Pegboy, have you thought about using an ftp server?

    an ftp://ftp.myserver.com/file.mp3 link will download.

it might make it bigger but at least it'll download

Ya, your way would work much better, though.
