    Another question on Background images

    Hello Everyone,
    This is my very first post and you might see alot more of me if I keep losing my smile while trying to figure this out. So help me out if you can. ( I miss smiling!)

    Here's my problem:
    I am trying to do my first webpage but instead of using background color as my background. I would love to use one of my photo's/Images/Gifs...Anything other than the regular old colors. I could use one of the photo hosting sites to upload my files but I don't want to do that. I want to use the stuff I have on my computer instead.

    Now in order to do, do I need to use the complete pathway to the photo from my computer? Or am I just completely and totally lost?

    Here's the examples I am using..
    <html>
    <body background="background.jpg">
    <h3>Image Background</h3>
    Or should I be using: <a href="

    Wait! I think I just confused myself even more. If that's possible. Anyway that is what I want to do.
    See Simple?
    Now it's time for me to step away for a bit but Thanks in advance.
    ~cheers~

    Welcome to the forums

    First you would have to have a static IP that will never change, oops there goes that idea

    Where is your site going to be hosted?

    I am not really familiar with how ISPs handle hosting, but whoever hosts your HTML documents should be able to handle the images as well.

    Re: Another question on Background images

    Hi Tickle,

    if you're using <body background="background.jpg"> just remember to have the background.jpg file in the same directory as your html file and it should work fine.

    This is both true for previewing on your computer before uploading and for when you have your site on the server. However, it is normal practice to have an images directory on the server where all your images are stored. In that case you would use <body background="images/background.jpg">

    Hope this helps
