    Script issue (beginner)

When I try to run this PERL script I get this message:
Bareword "operator" not allowed while "strict subs" in use at script line 15. script had compilation errors.

I am running perl version 5.8.3 on SUSE Linux
    Thanks.

    Re: Script issue (beginner)

I don't use PERL myself, but a bit of a search suggests that it's a problem with an unterminated string - either a missed quote or a quote that has been escaped with a backslash.

Alternatively, this post (no longer available) seems to show a problem where a keyword from a later version than the active one has been used, and you need to force the script to use a later version of PERL
    Hope they help a bit!
