how much spam do you get everyday?

i read a article somewhere recently that the number of spam emails per person have gone down... i dont think that applies to me though

i get about about 70-80 spam emails a day and most of them are either about pills, software or phishing
what about you guys

Hardly any - but then my anti-spam filters are quite good.
I ought to check now and then, though - I never know if I'm having "real" mail deleted!

A lot for me in one day would be 5 or more. There's a lot people can do to reduce spam, if they would just do it. Besides spam filtering that DeadMeatGF mentioned, you should never EVER display your email address in any way, shape or form on a public internet page. Setup a contact form for your website that doesn't display your email address. There are lots of free scripts for this, if you don't already have one. Make sure your script guards against header injection attacks too, so you aren't the one inadvertently spamming.

Just realised - I'm actually running 2 spam blockers.
My account has one built in, and I use Outlook as my mail client, which does it again!

depends on which account you're talking about.

on my yahoo account i get virtually none. just from the group that i'm subscribed to.

on my main account maybe 5 ~ 10 week.

on my isp's account i get probably 5 a day. i'm not sure because procmail kills a lot of it.

on my local net none. but then again, it's an unpublished address and only 1 other person has it and he's a linux user, so i don't have to worry about anybody harvesting his address book.

why have an address that absolutely nobody knows about? that's where fetchmail sends everything after it's been filtered by procmail. i ssh in from wherever, do a 'mailstat .proclog' to see where everything's been sorted to, then pine to read it.

When I saw this thread I started to not delete my spam so that I could get a count. My thoughts were to save 7 days worth and give a tally by day of the week.
Things got just too clogged and I had to clean it all up. I think it is safe to say I am in the 200 - 300 range though.

There's no way to stop these people. So
the best thing to do is make spam work for
you. In fact it is very powerful and simple.
You see, the affiliates who spam obviously
belong to a site. Go to the site and look for
customer contact and send them your
complaints and ad message. They cannot
complain since it's their affiliates who are
spamming. It works wonders for me. I had
3 customer supports join my program. Above
all, make SURE you keep the spam emails as
proof in case they talk s_it!!

I reckon i get about 50 - 60 a day - I have got a good spam filter - but it cant stop all of it.... To be honest, some of it can be an interesting read - no I am not talking about all the ones that are trying to sell you v14gr@ and the like, but you do get the odd bit of useful information - and I do mean the odd bit...

I get about 100 spams everyday.
I have been using spamihilator and Opera's inbuilt spam filters. Can't live without them

I get spam too. I had no choice but to redirect the spam to junk and add new aliases. It works. I don't get spam to my main box anymore.

I would say around 30 per day, still quite annoying!

My spam filters are active, but, still then can say there will be some 50-60 in spam box
