Angry PERL scripts sometimes not working

I have some PERL scripts that used to work fine and still do on several other ISPs.

My current ISP says they recently upgraded to a new version of Freebsd.

Some of my scripts would not run. These were the ones that used the
"time" function, to get the unix time.

I also have one that sens an email using data from a form.
If the form is not filled out the script runs and prints the proper errors. If it is filled out, it gets an internal error, apparently when it gets to the sendmail. It also used to work and now it does not again.

They say that the LF (line feed) have to be removed to get the scripts to run.
I objected to that idea, so they say then can just remove the CR of the CRLF.

I never had problem like this before, so I think it is something odd about their new freebsd upgrade. These same scripts used to run on this server before.

I'm trying to confirm if I may be doing something wrong or if
they are just covering up for their system problems.

    Any ideas?

Re: PERL scripts sometimes not working

If your scripts are known to be good on some unix/linux server, it should work on any unix/linux server running the same or better version of perl. Actually, since perl has a win32 port, it should work on iis servers too.

If they convert the scripts by using the fromdos command, the problem may go away.

I personally think that it's a problem with the isp.

Unhappy Re: PERL scripts sometimes not working

I think its the ISP too.
    Now the scripts run again.
    BUT:
I have a form that sends input to a cgi script, using POST.
I was telling them the script did not work when it got the sub for reading the form input, because that was where it was getting the internal error.
They told me it worked for them.
I had tried it from a win98 system, so I tried it from my XP system and it worked.
Any ideas how that could happen?

It doesn't work on 98 but does on XP? No idea.
