    Re: open url from text box? pls help

    coothead, I'd like to also be able to make those iframes automatically resize their height so that there won't be a scrollbar. I've tried several examples found on the internet but they don't work. Any suggestions?

    Hi there ralphreyes,

    I am afraid that, for security reasons, this is not possible.

    Attempts will give "Access Denied" warnings.

    This means that iframe auto resizing can only be applied to pages on your domain.

    Re: open url from text box? pls help

    Hello, I'm very stuck and would very much appreciate your help.

    I am trying to have it go users enter their url into a textbox, and it loads their url into an iframe on a new page.

    For example, page 1 reads "please enter your website" and on entering, it takes you to page 2 which loads the entered website into an iframe on that page.

    I cannont get this to work for love nor money and have tried everything!

    Many thanks,

    Re: open url from text box? pls help

    Hello all, I have got this working a treat and it is wonderful! There is one query I still have; when you hit the enter key the box clears rather than submitting, however if you click the "GO" button it works fine. Is there a way to make the enter key submit it or is that just the nature of forms?

    Very much appreciated once again.

    Re: open url from text box? pls help

    Morning, another newbie here.

    I have been looking through the pages of this thread for a couple of days and have found the code very helpful.

    I was wondering though if someone might be able to help me. I have a page where someone is asked to enter a Section ID number and upon submitting it will open a pdf named after the section ID number. Now I have the code to open a URL with that section ID at the end but I do not know how to add .pdf after the SecID so it knows to open the pdf file. I have listed a test example of the code below. There are over 300 different numbers that can be entered that will return a different file so putting them in an array won't work.

    Thank you very much in advance.

    <form name="reports" action="" method="get" onsubmit="window.open('http://www.wildhorses.com/report/'+document.reports.SecID.value,' _self');return false;">
    <input name="SecID" size="10" type="text">
    <input name="submit" type="submit" value="Go">

    </form>

    Hi there MrDeeJ,

    and a warm welcome to these forums.

    Have you tried it like this...
    Code:
    'http://www.wildhorses.com/report/'+document.reports.SecID.value+'.pdf'

    Thank you coothead. That did the trick perfectly. I spent many hours trying to figure that one last part out. You are a lifesaver.
