transparent background from b&w *.ps, *.eps
Does anyone know how to
- take a b&w postscript file and change the white background into transparent
- convert that file into a format that can be put on a web page . Can this be *.jpg ?
I'd like to do this without investing in a commercial graphics program, so shareware or editing the *.ps file would be best.

Try The G.I.M.P.
That'll handle postscript, and it's free
