I have never used a program to do my my web programming. I used Notepad until recently when I switched to PHPEdit.

But either way using an editor or not does not prove you not good or good really...

Just don't use Front Page! Aahh!

I've tried several programs, like Dreamweaver, Arachnophilia, 1stPage, etc., but have always gone back to using my Notepad substitute, EditPad.

    HTML editors

Just a personal opinion... I did find an editor I like because it color codes tags, etc. It is called CoffeeCup HTML Editor - coffecup.com and no, I am not getting a kick back. It has some pre-written short cuts - like a simple table code builder that does not add 400 lines of needless code to your table - just puts in the basic tags, etc. For the most part, I still type all the code myself, but there are some features that have turned out to be helpful - for example, a link to a page on the coffeecup website that linked me to this website.

I agree, do not use front page.

You see Front Page gives a lot of extra stuff to the code which makes the size of file bigger, which many people don't want.
While Dreamwear doesn't have alll that junk.
P.S. that is why i edit out Front PAge stuff in text editors

But really, since we own this topic by now by having the last 6-7 posts, let me just post again

Well i do need some point at this post, let me see....

Programs are hard at first to use because of two reasons: You are new to the program, and you don't know how the program works.

For example lets look at frontpage, it have a Normal mode, HTML mode and a PREVIEW mod, usually people mess up on their sites because of fized sizes and stuff, and since they don't know HTML, they don't know how to fix it(that is when this forum comes in handy for them)

Well duh if you are new to teh program you don't understnad it!

I use Homesite for all my work but I have a copy of dreamweaver that I am going to give a test drive....

I like the hands on approach better because when something breaks you can always go right in and fix the problem.

On that basis alone it is well worth taking the time to learn html.
