    Angry I dislike html tables

    Alright, so I'm once again, having problems with tables.

    I made http://www.freewebs.com/alternativechaosproductions/Channel5.html
    to look like a tv, with the screen part of the tv where I'd have text, (all the other "channels" are set up differently which is why they seem to work) any ideas? Thanks

    Code:
    <center>
    <table width="700" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0">
    <tr>
    <td colspan="3"><img border="0" src="http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b248/AlternativeChaos/RE.gif"></td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td width="157"><img src="http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b248/AlternativeChaos/MiddleLeft.gif"></td>
    <td background="http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b248/AlternativeChaos/middle.gif" width="389"></td>
    <td width="181"><img src="http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b248/AlternativeChaos/MiddleRight.gif"></td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td colspan="3"><img border="0" src="http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b248/AlternativeChaos/Bottomontv.gif" usemap="#fromontv" width="700" height="83"><map id="fromontv" name="fromontv"><area shape="rect" coords="49,25,138,68" alt="TVoff" href="Index.htm"><area shape="rect" coords="504,25,524,68" alt="Channel Down" href="Channel4.html"><area shape="rect" coords="528,25,548,68" alt="Channel Up" href="channel6.html"><area shape="rect" coords="560,25,648,68" alt="Video" href="Onvideo.html"></map>
    </td>
    </tr>
    </table>

    Re: I dislike tables

    I tried the link but it is not working. Is this the server problem or you have brought it down?

    Re: I dislike tables

    Hi there cokesodanotd,
    I dislike tables
    Well, for heavens sake stop using them, they are meant for tabular data not layout.

    As for your problem, try this...
    Code:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN"
       "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>ACP!</title>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">

    <style type="text/css">
    <!--
    body {
        background-color:#ffc082;
    }
    #top,#bot {
        display:block;
     }
    #container {
        width:700px;
        margin:auto;
     }
    #middle {
        width700px;
        height:352px;
        background-color:#fff;
        background-image:url(http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b248/AlternativeChaos/middle.gif);
        background-repeat:no-repeat;
        background-position:center;
     }
    #lft {
        float:left;
     }
    #rgt {
        float:right;
     }
    a:link,a:visited,a:active {
        color: #fc6;
     }
    a:hover {
        color: #f93;
     }
    -->
    </style>

    </head>
    <body>

    <div id="container">

    <img id="top" src="http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b248/AlternativeChaos/RE.gif" alt=""/>

    <div id="middle">
    <img id="lft" src="http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b248/AlternativeChaos/MiddleLeft.gif" alt=""/>
    <img id="rgt" src="http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b248/AlternativeChaos/MiddleRight.gif" alt=""/>
    </div>

    <img id="bot" src="http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b248/AlternativeChaos/Bottomontv.gif" alt=""/>

    </div>

    </body>
    </html>
