    perl permissions

    perlI have 2 files: *.pl (perl script, guestbook) and *.txt (for storing entries).Should I place them to separate folders? What permissions should I set for files and folders?

    upload both the file in cgi folder on web and change permissions of .pl to 755.

    You don't have to put the txt file and script in the same folder. So long as the path to the txt file is correct in your script. I always set permissions of pl file to 755, and then if i dont want people do see the txt file i secure it using .htaccess
