Need help with understanding hosting and search engines

I have a couple of websites and ech one has their own hosting, which the cost adds up. I was told that is you have one hosting account and created mutiple folders and had the domain forwarded to those folders, search enigines don't like this and you don't get as good of placement, not sure if this is true but any feedback would be great.
Also I noticed godaddy has it where you can have multiple websites on one hosting account. Is this the same as I mentioned above where it is just different folders and the search engines don't like this or is this a good idea to go with and save money becuase they are truely split up and the search engines see it as all being different. Any feedback or help would be greatly helpful

Godaddy let you host more than one website as a subdoman or addon domain(folders). You will be better of if you host each website as a separate domain.
