    Home Page in IE7

I have tried changing my Home Page in IE7 by right-clicking on the Home icon, but I can't seem to override the site that is already in there (MSN.com).
When I click on Tools/Internet Options/General, the following link shows up as the Home Page, which then apparently reverts to MSN.com:
    http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir...er=6.0&ar=home
How can I delete/override this MSN.com Home Page with a different one?

    Re: Home Page in IE7

Perhaps you have some sort of malware on your PC? Run Spybot Search and Destroy on your PC, then try changing your home page again.

Do you still have problems after doing the above? Read Preparation Before Posting in this other forum for additional suggestions on malware removal tools. Do what that says, then try to change your home page again.

Let us know how it goes.

That didn't work either. I ran Ad-Aware, then Spybot, then I restarted my PC, and I still got the same MSN.com Home Page.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks.

Oh, and Ad-Aware and Spybot each found about 8 or 10 problems that I deleted before I restarted my PC

If you've done those instructions exactly as Coothead suggested, you should have a new home page.

Just out of curiosity, what is the home page you're trying to set your browser to?

    Re: Home Page in IE7

    I've tried several home pages:

    CNN.com
    NBC.com
    CBS.com
    Blank Page

None of them ever "stick". Whenever I go back to the Internet Options menu (even immediately after I've changed the Home Page), it reverts back to the code that refers to MSN.com..

I recall there was an issue with this in IE7 which is now fixed.
Can't remember the details but try Googling for it, or just download the latest version and see if that fixes it.

    Hi there rob61,

Well, if you feel confident, you could try a regedit.
    1. click 'Start'
    2. click 'Run'
    3. in the dialog box type regedit
    4. You will now have the Registry Editor window
    5. click the plus symbol for HKEY_USERS
    6. click the plus symbol for S-1-5-21-790525478-688789844-725345543-1004
    7. click the plus symbol for Software
    8. click the plus symbol for Microsoft
    9. click the plus symbol for Internet Explorer
    10. click the plus symbol for Main
    11. scroll down and click Start Page. This is in the right panel
    12. click Edit
    13. click Modify
    14. in the dialog box type your chosen url in the Value data;
    15. click OK
    16. have another beer

I would suggest then that you visit that other forum I mentioned in a prior post. You may have some sort of malware on your PC that is difficult to remove. That other forum specializes in helping you remove malware. Be sure and follow their guidelines and try everything they suggest to try first prior to posting. You stand the best chance of getting this problem resolved in that forum.
