will Domain name forwarding hurt my site?

I have been pressured to change my domain name for one of my many sites and was wondering...
Will forwarding the previous domain name to another site hurt my website?

It should not as long as you use a 301 (permanent) re-direct. This can be accomplished via IIS or through the htaccess file.

Re: will Domain name forwarding hurt my site?

I tried some domain forwarding recently and it wrapped it up in a frame - definitely not a good idea. Like Corey says, make sure it is a 301 redirect. Google has some guidelines about this.
