    is their a html code that tells the computer to download that link?

    Unfortunately not.

    Its all in the browser settings. If a file has an association with the browser (like .html files) then the browser will attempy to open it. In Netscape, you can even setup your own associations, and Internet Explorer lets you open Office documents in the browser.

    the only sure way to force download is to zip the file up first.
