    Cool Question about asp includes

    I have a website and i use include files to display content.
    Example:
    <!--#include file="shoppage_header.asp"-->
    When the page is read, or spidered, by google, yahoo, etc are the include elements also included?

    Thanks.

    Re: Question about asp includes

    The include file by itself is not spidered. The search engines care only about your rendered pages. If the include files aren't web pages by themselves, the search engines won't spider them separately.

    Re: Question about asp includes

    how about my site which dynamically creates pages with asp?
    do the spiders/bots read those?
    example. a database listing of information that uses the response.write feature.... is it read?

    They still only read the rendered pages.

    Yes. If you right click on your page, then click View Page Source, that is the rendered page code, and that is what the search engines read when they spider a page.

    If the final output is in displayed page source code, the G-bot and other Bots will spider or take that information in their index

    Re: Question about asp includes

    Thanks. This is just the answer I was looking for. I use an article management system and I was hoping the information I had in the database would also be included.
